What is Change Fluency™?

Change Fluency™ is an individual’s adaptive capacity to translate challenges into opportunities. It is an innovation framework built on our Change Mindset (quantitatively scoring our change interpretation against our change response in the moment). The Change Fluency framework is leveraged in organizational transformation context to gain traction in change initiatives, first by assessing the five chains of change holding an organization back, then by identifying nine innovation principles to drive innovation that sticks.


This term was popularized and trademarked by Jay Kiew, world-renowned innovation keynote speaker. The full methodology is available in his upcoming book “Change Fluency™: Nine Principles to Navigate Uncertainty and Drive Innovation” (January 2026) as well as his many media features in Forbes, USA Today, Digital Journal and more.

Maneuvers versus Mindset
Most people think that change management is about maneuvers what we should make to manage change, but the truth is that most innovation comes from a change fluent mindset. Like learning a language, Change Fluency™ develops through deliberate practice - starting with conscious effort to reframe our natural and intuitive responses to disruption.
