  • Change Fluency™ is an individual’s adaptive capacity to translate challenges into opportunities. It is an innovation model built on our Change Mindset framework (Change Responses vs. Change Interpretation) . The Change Fluency framework is leveraged in organizational transformation context to gain traction in change initiatives, first by assessing the five chains of change holding an organization back, then by identifying nine innovation principles to drive innovation that sticks. Change Fluency as a book has been awarded the Booklife 2025 Semifinalist Prize in Nonfiction and is a 2026 Business Book Awards Finalist (winners announced Sept 2026).

This term was popularized and trademarked by Jay Kiew, world-renowned innovation keynote speaker. The full methodology is available in his upcoming book “Change Fluency™: Nine Principles to Navigate Uncertainty and Drive Innovation” (January 2026) as well as his many media features in Forbes, USA Today, Digital Journal and more.

    Maneuvers versus Mindset
Most people think that change management is about maneuvers what we should make to manage change, but the truth is that most innovation comes from a change fluent mindset. Like learning a language, Change Fluency™ develops through deliberate practice - starting with conscious effort to reframe our natural and intuitive responses to disruption.

Change Fluency transforms how leaders experience transformation by building the capacity to discover what's possible, design the future, and differentiate from the standard. Unlike traditional change management that attempts to control change, Change Fluency shifts mindsets to equip leaders to fluidly innovate despite disruption, while bringing others along.
